Discover Fortunes double-header in South Wales - some very impressive competitors
It is nearly the end of the academic year, but there was just time to squeeze in a multi-school event at the University of Glamorgan.
Seven schools from England and Wales were there on the day to compete against each other for a £500 prize. This was awarded to the team with the highest score from our Discover Fortunes event.
Discover Fortunes introduces sixth form students to a career in financial planning and all teams seized the opportunity to find out more.
Luckily for them, they were given excellent support by local members of the Personal Finance Society, including two Chartered Financial Planners - Marie Fanning from RM Financial Advice and Saran Allott-Davey from Heron House Financial Management.
Competition was fierce but there was a winning team, which best dealt with the five client scenarios in the game to win the £500 prize. Diamond's in the Rough (the apostrophe is deliberate, in light of recent events) comprising students from Cwmcarn High School, scored an incredible 138 points to be the leading team and claim the £500 bounty, kindly offered by the university.
